and the factors affecting it. Mathematically, it's often represented as:
The law of
demand is a fundamental principle in economics that describes the relationship
between the price of a good or service and the quantity demanded by consumers,
assuming other factors remain constant. It states:
"All else
being equal, as the price of a good or service increases, the quantity demanded
for that good or service decreases, and as the price of a good or service
decreases, the quantity demanded for that good or service increases."
This law is
depicted graphically as a downward-sloping demand curve, where the vertical
axis represents the price and the horizontal axis represents the quantity
demanded. The negative slope of the demand curve reflects the inverse
relationship between price and quantity demanded. The law of demand is based on
the intuitive understanding that as the price of a good falls, consumers are
more willing and able to buy more of it, and vice versa.
